The author approaches the task of empowerment by using Taoism, a Chinese religion and
philosophy, to explain women’s roles and influences. In the introduction, Ramm cautious readers to keep an open mind because views and beliefs are likely to be challenged. I found myself on the fence in some parts of this work, and I wholeheartedly agreed with the author at other times.
The Eve Code is the best thing I’ve done for myself in a long time. Understanding my issues, where they stem from, and what they are is the first step in self-healing. The Eve Code dives headfirst into what the author claims are the “greatest tragedy” of women. The lack of self-acceptance, this too has serious merits. The book is insightful and encouraging, but at the same time, it is also unapologetically direct.
The Eve Code discusses what women can do to alleviate workplace discrimination. I was not expecting to feel so much resistance to the author’s suggestion. My initial reaction to the words I read was, “there must be something else I can do.” I understand the wisdom behind the advice, but I’m the tiny country she referred to at the beginning of the book. You have to read this book to get where I’m coming from and to understand the author’s position.
One of the things I like about this book is the citing of sources. Not only did it lean to credibility to what Ramm is saying, but by the end of this book, I had a list of other works I’m interested in reading. While this book is about women’s empowerment, it’s a good book for men to read as well.
